The Same Old Games!
There are 5 games that always seem to appear in any ‘best games’ compilation. SuperHot, Beat Saber, Population One, VR Chat and Gorilla Tag. Now these are very, very, popular games, but they’ve been reviewed to death, plus I don’t play them, so you won’t find them in this list!
What we do have though are classic games, newer games, and the latest games that really push what the Meta Quest 3 and 3S can do, so there’s something here for everyone. Plus, you’ll get 20% off using these purchase links until the end of December 2025.
Classic Games
There are games that I do play though, and keep coming back to, time and time again, despite them being 4 or 5 years old.
Pistol Whip
An on-rails physical action-rhythm shooter. Think John Wick crossed with Beat Saber! Dodge bullets and kill enemies, all in time to the music. It’s simpler than it sounds and gets frantic in the harder levels. New content is released all the time to keep it fresh, so it’s definitely worth a try.

In Death: Unchained
A procedural medieval dungeon crawler, where no two run-throughs are quite the same. You don bow and arrow to take down the foresaken souls and creatures that have taken over the after-life.
Great fun, but be prepared for a sore arm.

Eleven Table Tennis
One of the original sports game for the Quest is still one of the best. It feels like you’re actually playing table tennis! You can play solo, or jump online and play with people from around the world, which is great fun!

Golf+
The Official VR Golf game of the PGA TOUR! You can play on different courses, either solo, or online with others and even play famous courses like Pebble Beach or St Andrews, although you do have to pay extra for those. It’s a game that is definitely worth a swing!

Walkabout Mini Golf
It’s the ultimate mini golf game where you’ll be putting your golf ball on a variety of courses from the space age to pirate bays. It’s great fun played solo, but even better on-line with friends. It’s definitely worth checking out!

Cubism
It’s a slow paced puzzle game that will see you trying to fit various different sized shapes together to form a single shape. It’s simple, and challenging. Plus a mixed reality mode let’s you sit in your lounge whilst puzzles float right in front of you!

Demeo
Bringing the table-top role-playing genre into VR, Demeo sees you comanding a team of characters as you roll the dice and take on the various missions. No two run-throughs are the same. You can even play on-line with others. You’ll be coming back time-and-time again for more.

Newer Games
Now moving onto newer games, and these are games that really start to push what you can get out of these VR headsets.
Asgard’s Wrath 2
This was THE game to play when the Quest 3 was released last year, and this large scale action RPG games still looks great a year later. You’ll battle gods and monsters in a game that is part hack and slash and part puzzle solver, with a good mix of both to keep you playing for hours.

Assassin’s Creed
Assassin’s Creed finally comes to VR! You’ll play 3 different assassins, in 3 different locations, with all the important Assassins Creed mechanics you’ve come to love. Stealth, parkour, and of course assassinations. So take a leap of faith and get stuck in!

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners
Take on the Walkers with whatever you can find, but beware as weapons degrade over time! This makes the game as much about managing your resources as it is taking down zombies. With graphics and gameplay updates making the most of the Quest 3 and Quest 3S, it is one of the most engrossing games you can play!

Resident Evil 4
You’ll be battling mind-controlled villagers, and monsters, whilst grabbing green and red herbs wherever you can in an effort just to stay alive. Whilst cut scenes do break the VR immersion, it is otherwise a failthful port of one of the most successful game in the Resident Evil series. Play it if you dare!

Les Mills Body Combat
This is my pick-of-the-bunch of VR filtness games. No monthly subscription to pay for, just one single price and everything is included. And with over 50 different workouts there’s plenty of variety to suit everyone from beginner to expert.

Blade & Sorcery Nomad
With a range of weapons, such as bows and arrows, or even magic,at your disposal, this realistic hand-to-hand combat game has a basic single player story mode, but it’s when opened up in a sandbox that this game truly excels, and your combat really is only limited by your imagination. There really is no other game like it!

Dungeons of Eternity
This procedural-generated dungeon crawler ensures no run-through is the same. You can play single player, but it is best played online with others. With puzzles, traps, secret chambers, and the inevitable combat, there is plenty to keep you on your toes. If you like RPG’s then shout Leroy Jenkins and get into this!

Miracle Pool
The full color pass-through of the Quest 3 and 3S really makes it feel that there is a full sized pool table in your room, in this mixed reality game! You can play solo or jump online and play with others. I’ve been playing this game since it was in early access, and it’s definitely one to play.

The Latest Games
So some great games have come out over the last 6 months or so that have really started to try and get the most out of the Meta Quest 3 and the Quest 3S. Not only just from a graphical capability perspective but also really utilising mixed reality as well.
So here’s some of the best that I think you should check out.
Home invasion
Your home is now the last bastion of hope against the zombie on-slaught in this mixed reality game that will see zombies literally flood into your lounge through doors, windows, and even the wall! Fend them off with gun, bat, or even your hands! It’s easy to pick up and play and is a great way to show off mixed reality to others.

Batman: Arkham Shadow
The highly successful Arkham games come over to VR! It’s impressive given that this is all running on a stand-alone headset. The hand-to-hand, in your face, combat is balanced by the need to explore and solve puzzles to progress further. It’s a game that will have you saying “I’m Batman” whilst you play!

It’s also currently FREE when you buy a Quest 3 or 3S!
Metro Awakening
If you’ve liked previous Metro games then you’re going to love this! You venture through Russia’s undeground during a nuclear winter to find you missing wife. Whilst this survival horror has plenty of frantic fighting there’s also lots of travelling and searching, and it gets off to a slow start. It does pick up later though. It’s impressive, captivating, and terrifying, all at the same time.

Behemoth
If ever you wanted to be the star of a fantasy movie, then this is it. Your quest is to slay the Behemoth gods. These fight scenes are just on a scale that I haven’t seen in VR before. It takes some practice to take the gods down, but when you do, you feel like a complete badass.

Thrill of the Fight 2
This is a sequel to one of my favourite VR games of all time! It’s the only boxing game that gives you a real work-out! It is in early access release at the moment and only supports online multiplayer currently. However, they are planning to add a single player mode in 2025.

50 Games for the price of one!
Meta Quest+
So buying all the games in this list would be expensive, and if you’ve just bought a VR headset then you probably don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on games.
Fortunely there is Quest+. This is Meta’s gaming subscription service, which gives you access to a ton of games for just $60 a year. That’s the price of Asgards Wrath 2 just on it’s own, and that game is included in the subscription!

So if you’re just starting out then it’s a great way to play lots of games without spending a fortune.
What’s your best game out of this list, or have I missed a game out that you think should have been on this list? Let me know in the comments.
