AMVR Silicon Face Cover
First is the AMVR Silcone face cover. This is as simple as the name implies. It is a silicone face cover for the existing default facial interface that comes on the Quest 3S. So if you don’t mind wearing that facial interface then this will at least protect your facial interface from soaking up any sweat as it isn’t washable. With the silicone cover installed, you can easily just wipe it down to keep it clean, and it’s more hygienic too. Another advantage of this cover is that it sticks to your face better than the cloth on it’s own so you don’t have to have your head strap pulled so tight or order for it to stay in place.
With this only costing around $10, it is the cheapest way to make your Quest 3S more hygienic and comfortable.
Full Upgrade Options
If you want to replace your facial interface entirely then AMVR provide two different versions. The Q3SFC1, and the Q3SFC2. Both are identical in all ways except for one. The FC1 wide version has a wider forehead bar. This makes it more comfortable when used alongside an elite style head strap as it distributes the weight of the headset across your forehead better. Alternatively, the FC2 standard version comes with a thinner forehead bar. This makes it more suited to halo style head straps as it won’t conflict with the head straps forehead bar.
Other than this difference, both facial interface are identical in terms of design and features. They both come with two different foam face pad options. The first one is coated in a PU leather making it easy to wipe down and keep clean. Whilst the second ‘ice silk’ face pad are more breathable, can soak up sweat. and are washable too.
There are large air vents on the top to help hot air escape. Whilst vents in the side help to draw cold air in. All this is in a bid to try and keep you as cool as possible whilst gaming. You definitely notice the difference compared to the default facial interface. The design of the air vents also ensures that no light comes in through them either.
So the air vents, combined with the redesigned nose guard, keeps light leakage to a minimum. It is a a noticeable improvement over their previous facial interfaces.
These also come with a glasses space. So if you wear glasses whilst playing then these have you covered.
Which one for which strap?
The thinner design of the Q3SFC2, when used with a Halo headstrap, provides lots of space to ensure that the two don’t conflict with each other. This is especially so on the BOBOVR S3 Pro head strap. You now have enough space for the fan to easily blow cool air down onto your forehead and face. So for Halo head straps this works really well. You don’t notice the lack of that extra height of the facial interface as the facial interface isn’t taking the weight of the headset, the head strap is.
Combining the taller Q3SFC1 with an elite style head strap, you can feel the benefit the extra height of the facial interface provides. It distributes the weight of that headset across your forehead more. So this is a definite win if you have an elite style head strap.
Which to buy?
With three options here, which should you buy?
If you find the default facial interface on the Quest 3S comfortable, then the silicone cover, at only $10, is a cheap simple upgrade that just makes your facial interface more waterproof, and hygienic too.
If you want to replace your facial interface completely though then you could get either, it’s best to get the one that is designed to work best with your particular head strap. So, that’s the tall Q3FC1 version if you have a Halo style head strap, or the standard Q3FC2 if you have any elite style head strap or are sticking with the default elasticated head strap that the Quest 3S comes with.
Prices for either are around $30 and so are pretty cheap options for making your Quest 3S more comfortable.
