If you want to play for more than a couple of hours on your Quest 3 then you need a head strap that is not only comfortable, but also with enough power to keep you going for hours at a time. So here are a trio of products from BOBOVR that claim to give you exactly that. The S3 Pro head strap, the B100 battery, and their BD3 Charging Dock…
The Head Strap

BOBOVR S3 Pro Head Strap
The BOBOVR S3 Pro is a halo style head strap that also comes with a B100 battery for hours of extra gameplay.

The ‘halo’ style of the head strap places a large bar across your forehead. This takes the weight of the Quest 3 off your face and distributes it evenly across your forehead. That forehead bar is padded, and covered in a PU leather, for comfort. All Ideal if you want to game for longer. A dial on the back of the head strap also adjusts to ensure the head strap supports a large range of head sizes from 18.5″ to 25.2″.

The backpad is also padded and covered in the same PU leather ensuring the head strap comfortably cups the back of your head. An additional honeycomb silicone strip is also provided that can replace the bottom half of the back pad if you want extra grip or breathability.
The S3 Pro is compatible with most facial interfaces, and can even be worn without one in ‘mixed reality’ mode. Your head strap then just hangs your headset in front of your eyes. A great option for mixed reality gaming and also to help keep you super cool whilst playing.
The S3 Pro head strap comes with a single B100 battery that magnetically attaches to the back of the head strap. This provides hours of extra game-play.

If you’re worried about it falling off, you needn’t be. In tests, no matter how hard I shook my head, the battery stayed in place.
An LED display on the side of the head strap shows how much power is left on the battery. Pressing the adjacent scroll wheel switches the display to ‘fan mode’ allowing the scroll wheel to adjust the speed of the fan that is built into the forehead bar of this head strap.

The fan blows cool air across your forehead and does a good job keeping you cool during gaming. If you’re like me and get hot when gaming, that’s a god-send.

The fan does get quite loud when pushed to full speed though so I’d recommend dialling it down so it’s less distracting, unless you absolutely need maximum cooling.
The BOBOVR S3 Pro head strap is one of the most comfortable and feature rich head straps that I’ve tried for the Quest 3 or 3S. Those features do come at the expense of weight though. With a B100 battery attached, the head strap weighs over 1kg / 2.2 lb! The weight is fairly evenly distributed though and goes some way to counter-balancing the weight of the Quest 3. So it does feel lighter than the pure weight measurement would suggest.
The Battery

BOBOVR B100 Battery
The BOBOVR B100 batery is a 10,000 mAh battery that provides up to 3 hours of extra gameplay for your Quest 3. This will vary depending on whether you’re playing mixed reality games, which consumes more power, or simply browsing the web. Still, relatively speaking, you should still get up to an additional 135% of power with this battery, on top of a fully charged headset.

One of the biggest questions fo any Quest 3 battery is whether it can keep the headset charged whilst playing. This is due to the Quest 3 being more power hungry than the previous Quest 2. Well I played a game of Demeo for 2 hours and by the time I had finished playing the headset was still at 99% charged whilst the battery was at 39%! So it’s not a problem for the B100 battery.
Four LED lights on the battery show you how charged the battery is, and it can be charged using either a USB-C cable plugged into the top, or wirelessly by docking the battery into either a D3 or BD3 Charging Dock.
Now whilst charging over a cable is the cheapest option, it is also the slowest. It takes 4 hours to fully charge over a cable! So using a charging dock is significantly faster.
The Dock

BOBOVR BD3 Charging Dock
The BD3 Charging Dock is equipped with three magnetic charging bays that can charge up to three B100 batteries with 90w of power. So the dock can charge all the batteries up to 80% in under an hour which is pretty impressive.

image: BOBOVR
The 90w is evenly distributed across all three charging bays though. So you can’t charge a single battery at 90w, even if only a single battery is in the dock. You do still get that 80% one hour charge though.
Unfortunately the charging dock does not come with a power adapter. So you will need a find, or buy, a power adapter capable of 30w, 60w, or 90w charging depending on whether you intend to charge 1, 2, or 3 batteries at the same time.

The BD3 charging dock has an LED display on the front that shows how many watts the dock is using to charge all the batteries. It also shows how charged the most charged battery is, with a small indicator light highlighting which battery it is referring to.

There’s even a sticky pad that the dock comes with that can be attached to its base to help it stay put on your desk. It is super sticky and definitely does the job, although I was also quite happy using the dock without it.
Verdict
So if you want more comfort, and never-ending power, and are willing to pay for it, then these three products from BOBOVR are pretty much the perfect package.
Prices do vary wildly though and can be anywhere between $40 and $250 depending on whether you buy just an extra B100 battery, or are maxing out and buying the S3 Pro head strap, three extra B100 batteries, and the BD3 charging dock.
Maxing out and buying three extra batteries is only really worth it if you have more than one VR headset in the house. Most people will find just the BOBOVR S3 Pro headstrap and a single extra B100 battery is enough for endless power. Providing you use the BD3 Charging Dock to fast charge the batteries. Charging over a cable is just way too slow.
